4.God is not running a store to repay or issue credit or debits.It is a principle to be realised.Otherwise ,anybody
can do anything in the name of GOD.

application.Hinduism does not promote intermediaries between God and human beings.However,Guru will come
to you on his own if your yearning is strong enough.You may also seek him, but the Guru shall call you
intuitively.

not equate LKG with Phd.For beginners,visiting temple and following of Anustaana is essential to create the
mind set to Realising God.

Intention of US in the Subcontinent.
A word of Caution to India and Pakistan.. US,though ostensibly trying to help India,to India's glee and Pakistan ,to its chagrin, is attempting to get a firm foothold in the subcontinent,having failed in Afghanistan,in the southern part of former USSR (to control oil),and in not being able to control Iran.US needs a presence closer to oil rich middle east to have access to Gulf where except Saudi Arabia,its hold has weakened.Also it needs to check China.It tried to do so by luring Pakistan without much success.Now that Pakistan is closer to Anarchy,US would not want to do an Iraq to Pakistan by itself.and India might get its hands dirty. So,Pakistan-Better be closer to India and save your country from becoming messy. India-Don't depend much on US.Use US till it serves you and sincerely try to help civilian government in Pakistan,if they require.Above all avoid getting drawn into Afghanistan and Pakistan's western borders.

A Wednesday-Hindi
A good movie leaves a lot of things unsaid.It has characters but not actors-has dialogues that are not forced-screenplay that is flowing.
"A Wednesday " belongs to the above category.Screenplay is taut,where a scene evolves from the previous one and merges into the subsequent one.
The film brings out the helpless anger of AAMADMI, his frustration and his reaction when pushed beyond the limit-this far,no further.
The notable point is that the movie preaches nothing( as is usual in Bollywood movies),but by apt, pungent,acerbic,passionate -not rabid, -dialogues delivered by Naseeruddin Shah compels the viewer to express himself,at least vocally while you watch.
The Police investigation,as shown in the film,is not flamboyant and corny but methodical and real.It also shows the pressures on the law enforcers.
How the media is being manipulated by the terrorist and the dilemma faced by the media in choosing between the story,which is its responsibility and the moral question of not really following it.
Camera work is unobtrusive;it does it divert your attention from the movie,which is how it should be.
Editing is without jerks.

Election Results-2008-Five States-Lessons.
Cong. impresses, set to rule three states.
Some lessons.
1.Congress though has won three states.With the exception of MPand Delhi,the margin is not really comfortable for any of the parties.For that matter,the total scenario is that both the National parties seem to be marginalised.This may be due the rise of regional parties,more specifically the regional adjustments both Congress and BJP have made with these regional parties.
2.There is no discernible difference between the National parties. When they come to power in terms programmes,Congress minus loud noise of Hindutva and BJP minus overt minority appeasement are one and the same. The voter is resigned to either of these.Hence, the regional parties highlight local issues and become strong in the respective states.
3.Coalition has come to stay in most of the states.It is not based on ideologies,but is a marriage of convenience.So,we see the dichotomy of "Allies in State and adversaries in Centre" and also the other way around.Classic example , Left and Congress alliance.
4.This does not augur well for the country especially in the current economic and terrorist climate.
The parties will not be able to govern firmly.
Will the parties wake up and ,come out with real National Agenda to save the country?

Mr.Rangarajan seems to be right choice due to his experience.Alternately PM may consider shifting Sharad Pawar to Home ,PC to Finance and induct SM Krishna for Agriculture.Sharad Pawar is a strong administrator with political acumen, unlike Chidambaram whose political skills are not street smart.Unfortunately Pawar is in NCP.

Should not depend on US for war on Terror
US will lead us in the garden path so long as it suits its global strategy.Having not been able to control Afghanistan and Pakistan,US shall lead us to suit its agenda and if the policy is successful, shall get a foothold in India.
It will not , at the same time ,antagonise China.It shall do a balancing act till such time its goal is achieved and ,when the call comes, shall side with China as China has a larger market and also,at present superior militarily to India.
If, however,the policy fails,shall leave mess it has created in our lap.
Sanest course of action would be to make use of US and play along and dump US if and when the time comes.To achieve this end we should have Russian Ace up our sleeves.

Creation of Two Party System
Instead of expecting politicians to change,and making attempts to change the system, let us know we can enforce this two party system by
-rejecting parties with religious/regional agenda
-not voting for criminals/people with no Character
-making youth enter politics
-like minded people come together and educate people street by street

Will Pak.Act after warning by US?

Going by the track record,Pakistan will not act.However,the circumstances are different now.
Even the Pak. army knows,they are facing worst crisis in their wetern borders.They will have no country to govern,if US acts militarily,under international coalition,as was done in Iraq.
Political leadership also knows that this time,it can not dilly dally.
Economic conditions in Pakistan would become chaotic if US economic aid is not forthcoming.
The strident Anti-India reaction from the masses,usually associated with the public of Pak. is missing,as the present generation in Pakknows the futility of foolish bravado against India,which is unwarranted(that exists in the minds of politicians and generals),will not ensure a stable and prosperous Pakistan.
Even their so called ally China is less enthusiastic than before in supporting Pak.
Logically,Pakistan,this time will act;but it shall be a token action like arresting LeT Chief and keeping him under house arrest like their father of Atomic bomb,and make noises about building CBMs with India- I beat ,you-cry act.

No CM for Maharashtra
It is not surprising that the Congress could not find a candidate for CM's post for Maharashtra.The party may not be aware that given the security scenario, the state needs a strong CM,like SK.Patil,Y.B.Chavan.But present congressmen are pygmies,who like to ride on dynasty's name.They have to consider poll Alliances,castes.NCP.ShivSena,probably a wild card move like appointing a Muslim candidate to gain cheap electoral point.Prevarication ,Thy name is Congress.After all,we have seen the drama that took place before the nomination of Dr.ManMohan Singh as PM.

Need Fulltime FM.
Dr.ManmohanSingh, is no doubt, the Father of Indian New Economy.However, he can not do justice to both being the PM and FM.Finace Ministry needs strong presence and day to day monitoring,analysis and swift action, especially in meltdown situation in Global Economy.
Does the Congress mean to convey that they have nobody other than Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram to manage sensitive portfoloios?It is shameful to have elected such a party who do not seem to have the right candidates to run the country.

Media Coverge-Bombay Blasts-26/11/08
By and large, the live coverage by the media was exceptional in that the media personnel, in general,were very professional,innovative,caring,sensitive and passionate.However some areas need careful thought.
1.Some channels,were outright speculative.In their anxiety to provide passionate coverage,few media personnel on the field resorted to crass statement's on the system and the powers that be;though they are justified, it was neither the time nor the place to do so.Few of them used a language that tended to ignite passions.In fact ,a reporter complained that the officials are not allowing to do their duty to cover the incident,forgetting that it was sensitive operation and the reporters lives were also at risk.
2.A channel,through their anchor has tried and judged the yet unknown perpetrators guilty,thus providing fodder to Pakistan that India had already made up their mind about Pakistan"s involvement.In the same channel,a Rtd.Pakistan Army general was being goaded into making some remarks that were not in the interests of our country.Thank God!He saw the ploy and became non-committal thereafter.
3.There was also an insensitive question to Mr.Ratan Tata as to "what compensation were Tatas contemplating for their employees who fought valiantly'.He was also asked as to the extent of damage to the property and the number of guests in the hotel at the time of the attack.Is it not grossly insensitive?The details of guests could have been obtained sans camera,surely.MR.Tata was dignified in his response.
As for as the code for covering the event, it is better that media formulate its own code and implement and it need not be entrusted to Politicians and bureaucrats.
Any,we can proudly say Indian Journalism has come of age and can can give a run for their money to foreign News Channels, due to their professionalism,commitment and patriotism

Anti-Terrorism-Action Plan
Subsequent to Bombay Terrorist attack,it is time that academic discussion stopped and concrete action is taken.
To begin with we may initiate the following.
1.If we have exact intel on terror camps inside Pakistan strike them a la Entebbe.
Stop pussyfooting with diplomacy and US and international opinion.
2.Seal the border with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
3.Freeze all CBMS on hold.Stop all trade with Pakistan.
4.Create centralised command structure for terror operations.No other agency is to attempt this operation.
5.Let professional bureaucrats and defence people act,not waiting for clearance from political leadership.If interference from them is noticed, come public through media.
6.Let media cover only the essential of terror attack as a sideline.Do not provide publicity to Terrorists.
7.Stop divulging the background of suspected terrorists,including their religious background.
8.Issue national ID.
9.Use Postmen to verify addresses.
10.The security checks are perfunctory.Supervise.
11. Let one member of the public take over one street/apartment block.Keep the centralised Command /police on any thing extraordinary.
12.Do away with agents for passports.Handle directly.
13.Banks to map pattern of spending and intimate deviation.
14.SIM cards,especially for Prepaid. on production of ID with comments from police.
15.Internet booking for travel to be verified by banks before issue of tickets.
16.Arrest mercilessly politicians who sow the seeds of separatism and religious bigotry.
Above all let each of us be on the look out.If we find anything suspicious,do not wait for official action.Take people and tackle.
Mere solidarity meetings and talking shop will yield nothing.

TIME- A Perspective
It is often observed that Hinduism suffers from too many Gods. It has been said in a lighter vain that with so many Gods being worshipped, one ultimately does not get help from any God, because each God is under the impression that the other would help, thus ultimately, no God helps.
Valid arguement.To understand the concept of God one has to understand the fundamentals of Indian Philosophy.
Indian Philosophy recognizes the limitations of human mind and abilities. It knows that one is restricted by space and time, which does not afford him the luxury of understanding things as they are. Any perception or understanding is conditioned by the twin spectacles of Space and Time (Immanuel Kant in Critique of Pure Reason.)To understand things as they are is beyond human ability. Let us say that we want to know whether there are any particles that travel at a higher velocity than light. (It has been proved theoretically that they exist).If we want to prove them by direct experience rather than inference, we need to be in motion in tune with the particle traveling faster than the velocity of light (Einstein circumvented this problem by theorizing that if an object were to travel at a higher velocity than that of light, it would no longer remain matter. (Theory of Relativity.)
But this not the correct answer. Imagine, we travel at a higher velocity than the velocity of light, not withstanding the fact that we may no longer remain as matter, what happens?
We may be able to observe the particle traveling at a higher velocity than light. But, in the process of observing this phenomenon, we no longer remain in our normal original state. That is to say we have changed our plane of existence to that of the object traveling at a higher velocity.
This means to understand, in the realms of Higher Physics, if one needs to observe things of a different coordinates, one needs to move to the same level of existence.
That is to say our existence coordinates or parameters vary. This leads to different level of Time as this involves motion at a higher velocity than the one we are in. This admits the differentiation of time, determined by two factors-the point from which one observes and the point at which the observable exists. In short to understand higher velocities one needs to be at the same velocity to observe in real time.
Again time zones differ. Let us leave the explanation or justification for the change in Time zones. The fact is, one in a particular Time zone can only visualize or imagine the reality of the other time zone. Nothing more. From the individual stand point the time zone in which he is placed is the Reality and the other time zones are not experienced by him directly at the given point of Time. We go with the statement of others that other time zones exist because people who live in the other zones vouch for it. But we do not perceive it by ourselves.
From the explanation of Big Bang theory, we know the universe was formed at the time of Big Bang and started moving forward or started evolving. What of the moment just before Big Bang? Stephen Hawkins states that it is irrelevant as it has no bearing on our Time frame. (Brief History of Time) Is it logical to say that when we can not comprehend or explain concept, the concept is irrelevant? What if it has a frame of reference of time than the one understood by us?
We can see clearly that we link Time with Motion. Displacement is observed due to change in Time Frame. Time is understood by displacement. It means that we perceive Time because of a displacement of object, be it the universe or the hands of a clock. This Circular Reasoning is a logical fallacy. (As we say commonly. egg came from the Hen and Hen came from the egg. We can not arrive at a conclusion).
To quote another famous example; if we travel in a train traveling at a particular speed and observe a train moving at the same speed in the same direction, you will observe that you are stationary as the other train. But you will have covered some distance. In this case motion seems to be at rest while space has been observed. By this example we can say space may exist independently of Time.
But when we follow the concept of Big bang, time is intricately connected with Space and in fact is concomitant with Time.
Another example from Xeno’s Paradoxes:
1. Let us keep the distance from Bangalore to Chennai at 300 miles (for calculation purposes.)
If we travel at the rate of 300 miles per hour, we will reach Chennai in an hour; at 600 miles per hour, 30 minutes; at 1200 miles per hour in 15 minutes; at 2400 miles per hour, in 7.5 minutes; at 3600 miles per hour, in 3.75 minutes, at 7200 miles, in 1.8 minutes; at 14400 miles, in .9 minutes. At this rate, we would have reached Chennai before we left Bangalore!
2. Let an object X travel between A and B.X has to cover half the distance of AB before reaching B, we may call this as C;
X before reaching C, should cover half the distance of AC, say D; to reach D, X has to cover half the distance of AD, say E.
We know that Space is infinitely divisible. That means X will be traveling infinitely, that is motion is impossible!
When we speak of Pole star being 400 light years away, we can only say that it existed 400 years ago, because the light left Pole star 400 years ago! We can not say it is there now because we see in the sky today.
The long and short of it is that defining Time is very difficult and is in fact impossible.
Latest findings on Black hole suggest that if you go through a black hole, time runs backwards. If by chance, we were to be in Black hole, will we perceive our present universe as flowing forwards in Time?
The reason for this situation is the assumption that Time is Linear. Time flows in one direction that is forward.
What if Time is Cyclic? That is, it flows around and depending on where you are, Time moves both forwards and backwards .Time is a stream; so is Space. Per se they are Absolute. They are Relative to the observer. To put it in simpler words ,things exist in Space and Time at all times irrespective of your positioning and what we say to day has happened ,is right now happening at another level for an observer positioned to observe it. For them, our Universe is Past. Similarly for another observer, what we see as future, may be Present.

Time as we have seen is relative. Time in Indian philosophy is an Attribute of Reality, so is Space.
The Cyclic Theory Of Time overcomes the Non Linear Theory of Time in that there is no seeming contradiction in comprehending different time scales. to illustrate,; you take a snap of an action, say a cricket match with two different cameras, one with a higher speed and another with ultra slow speed. If a catch has been under dispute, the ultra slow motion camera will show the exact action, that is, whether the catch has been taken cleanly by the fielder. The same information will not be available in a High speed camera. One camera shows an action and another does not show it. Which is True in relation to Time? That is to say, one instrument recording the event for the same period does not show it, though it should have passed the time at which the event has taken place and the other shows the same event, which it has passed. Recordings provide us with two projections. If it is due to the quality of instrument, then can we not say each one of them is correct or both of them are wrong? So when we talk about Perception, Time factor is one of the coordinates we do not know much about, if we accept Linear Theory. If we accept Cyclic Theory, we can say the event has happened and also not happened. The difference is the relative positioning.
Again, an event is a form of energy. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. If we accept the Theory of Linear Time, we have to say the event is no more or is destroyed. Under Cyclic Theory, this does not happen as everything happens, happened and will happen at the same time.
Recent researches on Human Brain have shown that the Brain anticipates action yet to take place and keeps the senses like eyes to receive the message and in fact receives (ref. TOI Aug 08) the message ahead of the event.
If we accept the Linear Theory of Time, we can not account for the time factor.
(This leaves an interesting question. Do we really see what we see?
Do we prove the existence of eyes because the scenes are seen or do we see things because we have eyes?)
We will be able to realize Self when we transcend Space and Time.

It is often observed that Hinduism suffers from too many Gods. It has been said in a lighter vain that with so many Gods being worshipped, one ultimately does not get help from any God, because each God is under the impression that the other would help, thus ultimately, no God helps.
Valid arguement.To understand the concept of God one has to understand the fundamentals of Indian Philosophy.
Indian Philosophy recognizes the limitations of human mind and abilities. It knows that one is restricted by space and time, which does not afford him the luxury of understanding things as they are. Any perception or understanding is conditioned by the twin spectacles of Space and Time (Immanuel Kant in Critique of Pure Reason.)To understand things as they are is beyond human ability. Let us say that we want to know whether there are any particles that travel at a higher velocity than light. (It has been proved theoretically that they exist).If we want to prove them by direct experience rather than inference, we need to be in motion in tune with the particle traveling faster than the velocity of light (Einstein circumvented this problem by theorizing that if an object were to travel at a higher velocity than that of light, it would no longer remain matter. (Theory of Relativity.)
But this not the correct answer. Imagine, we travel at a higher velocity than the velocity of light, not withstanding the fact that we may no longer remain as matter, what happens?
We may be able to observe the particle traveling at a higher velocity than light. But, in the process of observing this phenomenon, we no longer remain in our normal original state. That is to say we have changed our plane of existence to that of the object traveling at a higher velocity.
This means to understand, in the realms of Higher Physics, if one needs to observe things of a different coordinates, one needs to move to the same level of existence.
That is to say our existence coordinates or parameters vary. This leads to different level of Time as this involves motion at a higher velocity than the one we are in. This admits the differentiation of time, determined by two factors-the point from which one observes and the point at which the observable exists. In short to understand higher velocities one needs to be at the same velocity to observe in real time.
Again time zones differ. Let us leave the explanation or justification for the change in Time zones. The fact is, one in a particular Time zone can only visualize or imagine the reality of the other time zone. Nothing more. From the individual stand point the time zone in which he is placed is the Reality and the other time zones are not experienced by him directly at the given point of Time. We go with the statement of others that other time zones exist because people who live in the other zones vouch for it. But we do not perceive it by ourselves.
From the explanation of Big Bang theory, we know the universe was formed at the time of Big Bang and started moving forward or started evolving. What of the moment just before Big Bang? Stephen Hawkins states that it is irrelevant as it has no bearing on our Time frame. (Brief History of Time) Is it logical to say that when we can not comprehend or explain concept, the concept is irrelevant? What if it has a frame of reference of time than the one understood by us?
We can see clearly that we link Time with Motion. Displacement is observed due to change in Time Frame. Time is understood by displacement. It means that we perceive Time because of a displacement of object, be it the universe or the hands of a clock. This Circular Reasoning is a logical fallacy. (As we say commonly. egg came from the Hen and Hen came from the egg. We can not arrive at a conclusion).
To quote another famous example; if we travel in a train traveling at a particular speed and observe a train moving at the same speed in the same direction, you will observe that you are stationary as the other train. But you will have covered some distance. In this case motion seems to be at rest while space has been observed. By this example we can say space may exist independently of Time.
But when we follow the concept of Big bang, time is intricately connected with Space and in fact is concomitant with Time.
Another example from Xeno’s Paradoxes:
1. Let us keep the distance from Bangalore to Chennai at 300 miles (for calculation purposes.)
If we travel at the rate of 300 miles per hour, we will reach Chennai in an hour; at 600 miles per hour, 30 minutes; at 1200 miles per hour in 15 minutes; at 2400 miles per hour, in 7.5 minutes; at 3600 miles per hour, in 3.75 minutes, at 7200 miles, in 1.8 minutes; at 14400 miles, in .9 minutes. At this rate, we would have reached Chennai before we left Bangalore!
2. Let an object X travel between A and B.X has to cover half the distance of AB before reaching B, we may call this as C;
X before reaching C, should cover half the distance of AC, say D; to reach D, X has to cover half the distance of AD, say E.
We know that Space is infinitely divisible. That means X will be traveling infinitely, that is motion is impossible!
When we speak of Pole star being 400 light years away, we can only say that it existed 400 years ago, because the light left Pole star 400 years ago! We can not say it is there now because we see in the sky today.
The long and short of it is that defining Time is very difficult and is in fact impossible.
Latest findings on Black hole suggest that if you go through a black hole, time runs backwards. If by chance, we were to be in Black hole, will we perceive our present universe as flowing forwards in Time?
The reason for this situation is the assumption that Time is Linear. Time flows in one direction that is forward.
What if Time is Cyclic? That is, it flows around and depending on where you are, Time moves both forwards and backwards .Time is a stream; so is Space. Per se they are Absolute. They are Relative to the observer. To put it in simpler words ,things exist in Space and Time at all times irrespective of your positioning and what we say to day has happened ,is right now happening at another level for an observer positioned to observe it. For them, our Universe is Past. Similarly for another observer, what we see as future, may be Present.
Hinduism advocates Cyclic Theory of Time.

Ramana Maharishi-An Anecdote
My grand father was a class mate of the Bhagwan in Dindigul.. He narrated this incident to me.
Due to some family tiff, my father went to Ramanasram to see the Swami with a view to obtain Sannyaasa.As he was Swami’s classmate’s son, he was always welcome to the presence of the Swami.
On meeting him, the swami enquired of him. My father informed the Bhagwan that he has decided to become a sannyaasi and that Bhagwan should anoint him as one. The Swami did not reply. He asked him to wait in the Prayer Hall where he was giving Darshan.My father was waiting for hours. He was feeling hungry as he was accustomed to eating by 8.30 am. The practice at the Ashram was that food will be served to all after Swami left the hall and he would go around the dining room,supervising.As one would have it, the Swami, who used to leave the hall around 12noon, did not leave till 3pm that day .My father was upset.
Finally Swami left. My father immediately rushed to the Dining Hall and started eating. Swami came to him and asked him to eat well.
After the meal was over, Swami sent for my father and told him;
“Have eaten to the full? I saw you were unable to bear with hunger. How are you going to master your senses? Do not think Sanyaasa is easy. It is not a route to escape from your duties. Also, remember, being in the family and doing what one can to the family is also a yoga.If you have any problems at home, go and face it. I have asked the mutt people to give you money to go home. Next time, when you come here come with your family.”
When my father met him next time with my mother I was in the womb of my mother. Swami blessed my parents. I was named after him.
The unique fact about Bhagwan was that he never used have so- called sishyaas to follow him. His stock answer was that if you are hungry, only you can eat. So if you want to realize Brahman, you have to strive on your own.There is no fixed formula.

The High Court of Delhi, has banned two Senior lawyers Mr. A.K.Anand and I.U.Khan
From appearing in Court for a period of four months for their involvement in the infamous BMW hit and run case.
The Delhi Bar Association has called for a strike of lawyers on 26th August, in protest against the “overstepping of the High Court of Bar Council of India’s jurisdiction”.
Interesting? Isn’t it?
The lawyers have been found to be influencing the key witness. This has been documented in the sting operation and it was there for every body to see except the members of the Bar Council’s upholders of law (is it an anachronism to say so?).You would have expected them to take action. Did they? No. They take umbrage under the fact that the charge has to be proved. Once the Court has delivered the judgment, you would have expected them to censure the lawyers at least.
No. They have no comments to offer. Instead, they cry foul that the judiciary has usurped their powers.
Well. You can not expect any thing better. They are the people who defend the corrupt politicians, killers, bandits and international criminals for a few pieces of silver, stating professional ethics that it is their professional duty to defend a client, though they know the ones whom they defend are criminals of the first order. Physician, heal thyself.

Relationships
We find disharmony in relationships.Conflicts between husband and wife,chidren with parents and between friends, at a personal level.
Cause: We expect them to behave the way we want them to behave. When they do not comply, we get upset.
This assumes two premises.1.That the standard of behaviour I have in my mind is Absolute.But, I forget that the Absolute Standard I have in my mind need not neceessrrily be correct.
2.That the Standard I have in mind is acceptable to those around me. I forget that they may have their own standards which may be at variance with ours.Such being the case expecting behaviour acceptable to me is illogical
Again, my behaviour is not perfect or acceptable to those around me,is a fact.
As I do, they also have the privilege to expect a Standard of behaviour from me.That standard is set by them .Do I live upto it? No.
Hence to accept people as they are is the correct approach to avoid discord.Remember,we have been without them at some point of time/we have acquired the relationships only at a certain point of Time.When we have been without them/when they are out of sight, what has been our position?We simply do not bother.
The correct approach is to remember these facts and accept people as they are.
